Mariechen was born and bred in the heart of the Free State growing up on a farm next to the Orange River and matriculated at a private school CVO Dankbaar in Bloemfontein.
She obtained her BCom Law Degree at the UFS in 2016 and obtained her LLB at the UFS in 2019 while also completing her articles at Martins Attorneys in Bloemfontein. She was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in Bloemfontein in 2019. During 2016-2018 she was also part of the UFS Legal Team who participated in the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Competition which focusses on alternative dispute resolution in international commercial law.
In 2021 Mariechen completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and joined the DupWest family in 2022 to specialise in estate planning, trust administration and commercial work.
