Tenacious in her work, Sue-Mari heads the Collections Department of Du Plessis & Van der Westhuizen Inc., attending to general civil litigation, family law and correspondent work.
Sue-Mari previously served in the South African National Defence Force from 2001 to 2007, and achieved the rank of captain. Sue-Mari obtained her LL.B degree cum laude from the North-West University in 2012. She joined the Du Plessis & Van der Westhuizen Inc. team as a candidate attorney in 2012 and was admitted as an attorney in 2014.
Sue-Mari has right of appearance in the High Court of South Africa and, since her admittance, has gained vast experience in family law, where she is a passionate litigator. Her interest in this often delicate and sensitive field of the law has also led her to be an ardent believer in mediation. Her years in the defence force have taught her valuable communication skills, self-discipline and determination, which she now applies to her career. She is also a member of the South African Association of Mediators and serves on the panel of mediators with the Rustenburg Mediation and Arbitration Centre. Sue-Mari often attends to court-referred mediations on a pro-bono basis. In her spare time, Sue-Mari enjoys hiking and mountain bike riding. She believes that a healthy body houses a healthy mind, providing a balanced perspective in her legal career.
